Cars for Smiles in Madrid – 3rd of November 2018
CARS FOR SMILES PROVIDES 40 CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS CONVALESCENT FROM CHRONIC AND/OR SERIOUS ILLNESS THE OPPORTUNITY TO DRIVE A SUPERCAR ON THE JARAMA CIRCUIT
On November 3, 2018, more than 300 people gathered at the Madrid circuit around sports vehicles from legendary brands.
It is an altruistic project that wants to bring support, enthusiasm and joy to young people under treatment for serious or chronic illnesses and their families.
Cars for Smiles, the non-profit solidarity movement that was born 4 years ago in Barcelona to bring joy and motivation to children and adolescents with serious illnesses, held a day of rounds and accelerations in which these young people have become co-drivers of sports supercars for a day.
The event, which has been held for the second consecutive year in Madrid, brought together 40 children and adolescents and as many drivers, mostly owners of exclusive vehicles from legendary brands such as Ferrari, McLaren, Bentley, Jaguar, Aston Martin, AMG , Maserati, Lotus or Porsche. They were joined by family members, volunteers and directors of sponsoring and collaborating companies.
The purpose of this project is to create illusion and smiles for young people who suffer from serious or chronic illnesses, as well as provide support to their families and the people who are dedicated to their care within hospital institutions. In addition to having provided them with a unique and motivating experience, through the generosity of the owners, we have raised 5,000.00 euros that have been fully allocated to the project “We skate on 12” at the 12 de Octubre University Hospital.
The day began at 9:00 am with the presentation of the project and breakfast in the RFEF auditorium in Las Rozas, from where the caravan of vehicles escorted by the Civil Guard departed. From 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., several rounds of filming and experiences aboard the supercars took place at the Jarama Circuit, with the participation of young people as co-drivers. The act ended with the delivery of the symbolic check to Dr. Ivan Carbaño from Hospital 12 de Octubre and with a farewell cocktail at the RFEF.
The hospital centers that collaborate with this edition of C4S in Madrid are: Puerta de Hierro Majadahonda University Hospital, Jiménez Díaz Foundation, Infanta Elena University Hospital, Villalva General Hospital, Rey Juan Carlos University Hospital, Doce de Octubre Hospital.
