Cars for Smiles en Madrid – October 7, 2023

Cars For Smiles provides 46 teenagers with the opportunity to co-drive a super car in Madrid.

The event took place last Saturday, October 7, 2023 and brought together more than 250 people at the Somontes Club around high-end sports vehicles.

Cars for Smiles (C4S), is a non-profit solidarity movement that was born 9 years ago in Barcelona with the aim of bringing joy and motivation to children and adolescents with serious illnesses or in complicated living conditions, which recently celebrated in Madrid, on the Jarama Circuit, its fifth edition.

Thanks to the efforts and dedication of the C4S Madrid team made up of Irene Batanero, Marga Martínez, Javier Garcia, Pablo Melero, Jorge Suarez, Bernardo Trigo and Nicolas Aymerich, C4S has been able to hold its fifth edition.

The event brought together 46 “co-pilots” (children and adolescents) and as many other drivers, mostly owners of exclusive vehicles from legendary brands such as Alpine, Aston Martin, BMW M, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Mercedes AMG, McLaren, Jaguar, Ford, Porsche, Toyota GR, along with other electrified models such as the Polestar 2 and Porsche Taycan. They were joined by their families, volunteers and managers of the companies that sponsor and support the event.

The purpose of C4S has always been to create excitement and smiles for these young people, as well as to provide support to their families and the people who, within hospital institutions, are dedicated to their care.

Therefore, in addition to providing them with a unique and motivating experience, the proceeds raised through the pilots’ donations are 100% allocated to projects and improvements in the hospital facilities where these young people receive their treatments.

For this Madrid edition, the projects were selected:

  • “Therapeutic” Project, Puerta de Hierro Majadahonda Hospital.
  • “Cuagulín” and “Educare” projects, Villalba General Hospital.
  • “Displacement” Project, 12 de Octubre Hospital.
  • Project “Decoration of Pediatric Emergencies and Pediatric Hospital” of the Jiménez Díaz Foundation Hospital.

Thanks to the generous donations of the participating pilots and two passionate donors to the event, a fundraising record was achieved that has allowed 100% of all the projects presented to be covered.

The C4S team is made up of professionals from different fields who wish to contribute their experience and put it at the service of young people, hospitals and companies that sponsor and/or collaborate with the project. “It is a unique opportunity to make our passion for motorsports an unforgettable and motivating experience for the bravest young people in our society,” explains Martijn Elvers, founder and president of the association.

In this C4S edition the day began at 9:30 a.m. with the accreditation of the co-pilots and pilots. After breakfast, enjoyed in the garden of the Somontes Club, the day began, starting with some affectionate greetings from some pilots and communicators; The sisters Mónica and Marta Plaza, Pedro de la Rosa, Antonio Lobato and Paco Gonzalez started the first smiles.

The hospital centers and foundations that have collaborated in this edition of C4S have been: Puerta de Hierro University Hospital in Majadahonda, General University Hospital in Villalba, 12 de Octubre University Hospital, Rey Juan Carlos University Hospital, Infanta Elena University Hospital and the Jiménez Foundation Díaz, who have wanted to be part of the positive impact that C4S has generated to date in the cities of Barcelona, Madrid and Salamanca, managing to raise more than 100,000.00 euros since its inception in 2015.

Since 2022, at each event, we offset the CO2 generated during our event by planting trees donated by Dani Blasco and Dani Quadrados, creators of “The Dani’s Forest” on Tree-Nation.com.
